How this calculator works

We subtract your pre-tax deductions and the 2026 standard deduction ($16,100 single, $32,200 married filing jointly), then apply the 2026 federal brackets (IRS Rev. Proc. 2025-32): 10%, 12%, 22%, 24%, 32%, 35% and 37%. Each rate only applies to the slice of income inside that bracket.

It is the rate on your last dollar of income. It is not the rate on all your income.

Does this include Social Security and Medicare?

Are credits included?

No. Credits such as the child tax credit are not included.
