Example conversions
How this calculator works
Yearly pay is hourly wage times hours per week times weeks per year. Going the other way, the hourly wage is yearly salary divided by total hours worked in the year. Monthly pay is yearly pay divided by 12.
Step-by-step example
Using these inputs: Convert: Hourly wage to salary; Hourly wage or yearly salary ($): 25; Hours per week: 40; Weeks worked per year: 52.
At $25 an hour, 40 hours a week for 52 weeks, the yearly pay is $52,000, which is $1,000 a week, $2,000 every two weeks and about $4,333 a month before tax.
Tips for a better estimate
- Use your real hours. If you take unpaid weeks off, lower the weeks per year.
- Remember that results are before tax. The paycheck calculator shows take-home pay.
- Compare benefits as well. A salaried job may include paid time off and insurance that change the real value.
